WPJA- Award Winning Image

I’m very excited today as I received word one of my images submitted to the WPJA for the last quarter was a top five award winning photograph for the ‘kids’ category. This is a huge deal for me and I’m honored and humbled to be included in such a diverse mix of photographers from around the world.

The judges comments: “The joy captured on this boy’s face exudes radiance. His young face is a wonderful contrast to older gentlemen musicians. A very dynamic composition. The boy’s head is placed nicely between the guitars. And the inclusion of the hand and the guitar on the right adds context nicely.”

Here’s a bit about the WPJA:
The WPJA puts the world’s best wedding photography at your fingertips. We offer a new perspective on wedding photography – quietly capturing the real moments as they happen for the bride and groom.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Membership in the WPJA depends entirely on photographers meeting our high standards for inclusion. One CANNOT simply pay his/her way into the WPJA. We emphasize this is NOT another ad-driven wedding web site.

Vanessa Lim’s Bridal Shoot

Last Saturday was a really cool bridal shoot. We shot south of downtown at a wonderful oasis called Chris Park. My favorites were captured on the railway tracks and this the red wall right around the corner.

Vanessa was a real sport and thanks to two friends, helped her change from her Chinese dress into her wedding gown.

Lot’s of fun!

Stop The Press-Beautiful Wedding

Yeah! Jennifer and Daniel finally tied the knot on Saturday, August 9, 2008.

The ceremony was at St.Marks Church of Thousand Oaks. Father Kevin Ryan was the very same priest who performed the ceremony for Lyle and Deana, two old friends of mine a couple of years back.

Then, the reception got under way at the Randolf Air Force Base Officer Club. Man, was that a party. Great fun and we wish Jennifer and Daniel congratulations. As I write this, they’re both on their honeymoon cruisn’ somewhere in the Caribbean sea.

Below are a few of my favorite images from their wedding day.

New Lily Updates

As I have written before, working from my home office has its merits. As I write this, my fantastic mother in law is baby sitting our daughter, Lily. I just looked out my office window and there’s my little girl walking hand in hand with my mother in law. Wow! I just can’t believe it. There she is with her new white shoes walking. Walking! And with confidence. It amazes me she’s our daughter and just three weeks ago she was still crawling. Time does not stop, right?

Well, here are a few more pictures taken in the last week or so. My favorite is last photo with Lily looking through the glass window as the rain fell last week. That wonderfully good looking woman in the photos is my wife, Marcie. The second photo also shows Lily doing a mean Mick Jagger impersonation. Makes sense, she must like them. When Marcie was pregnant, we went to Austin and saw the Stones in concert.

Julie & Gilbert

Congratulations to Julie & Gilbert who tied the knot on Saturday, August 2 in Falls City, Texas. The married in a beautiful old church, the same church Julie’s mother and grandmother married.

Family and friends gathered for the reception in the barn behind the church and partied all night. And then more some in the wee hours.

Good fun! Here’s afew of my favorite images.
