Lily on Thanksgiving

We just finished putting up the lights on our back yard arbor, so here’s a few shots of Lily using available light with the Nikon D3 last night.

This is one of the many reasons why I love my Nikon D3 and D700. Both do an exceptional job of capturing in low light and use a full frame sensor, Nikon call it FX format, but all it really is is a bigger sensor and the same size as a 35mm frame so there is no crop factor of 1.5x.

Shot with a 50mm and at f1.4 lens and 4000 ISO, they’re pin sharp. I use this lens to shoot my weddings along with my 24-70 f2.8 and 18mm.

Of course, she’s our daughter so we think she’s gorgeous!

Alyssa’s Bridal Shoot

Here’s a few photos from Alyssa’s Bridal Shoot yesterday south of downtown San Antonio.

Alyssa looks beautiful, and considering she had a cold and on a heavy dose of DayQuil she did exceedingly well.

The first shot below is my favorite photograph. We were in a high traffic area and a few cars and trucks that sped past were honking their horns and a few guys shouted out “Don’t do it!”. Very funny….One car that slowed down so much to gawk, almost rammed into the other car in front. Alyssa’s reactions are captured in the last two photos.

Alyssa and her fiancee, Chad, marry a week Saturday, December 6.

Laurel’s Bridal Shoot

It was rather dark and overcast when I woke up this morning. However, during Laurel’s Bridal shoot the sun came out and boy, it was a beautiful and fun shoot.

Here’s a few of my favorites from this morning shoots. Laurel and Max are tying the knot next month. Can you believe we’re just a a few days away from Thanksgiving!

Nicole and Brett’s Engagement Session

Over the weekend, I met and captured Nicole and Brett’s engagement photos at San Jose Missions and Mission Conception. From Houston, they arrived in San Antonio late Friday night, so I was surprised how well the session went, all without the aid of early morning coffee:-)

I however, had my espresso and we had a great time shooting in the rather cold morning.

Nicole and Brett tie the knot Saturday, April 25, 2009.

More Testimonials

I just wanted to comment on the wedding album. We recieved it in the mail yesterday. The wedding album is stunning, and your gift is on display on every page. The entire essense of the wedding was captured beautifully, but you also got the mood and personality of the wedding just perfectly. I cannot say enough good things about the work you did, and as I think about the children in my future, I am so grateful that instead of some polaroids and a cushiony album, they will have this magnificent book to see the beginning of their family. Hiring you, I think, was the second best decision we made for this wedding (choosing each other has to come first!). If you want to use this email to send to anyone, you have my permission. You are an incredibly gifted and generous photographer, and I thank you.”

Kirsten and Sam’s Big Day

Kirsten and Sam are a really sweet couple and just seem like they were made for each other!

I was honored to be part of their day last Friday, November 14 when they married at Mercury Hall, Austin. The reception followed at Independence Brewery of Todd Lane, a unique venue and a real working brewery.

With awesome food, a band to rock the early evening and fantastic folks, I really enjoying capturing their day.
